How to mark a lead won or lost

Use won when revenue is recovered

Mark a lead won when the business secured the customer opportunity, completed the booking path, or otherwise converted the lead into revenue.

Use lost with a reason

Mark a lead lost when the customer chose another provider, no longer needs the service, did not respond, or the business could not service the request.

A clear loss reason makes reporting useful and helps operators fix the weakest part of the workflow.

Avoid premature closure

  • Do not mark a lead lost just because it has not been answered yet.
  • Do not mark a lead won until the business outcome is real.
  • Add a note if the decision depends on special context.
